Trump Endorses Christian-Backed Effort to Aid Canadian Jews Fleeing Antisemitism

Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump has signaled his support for a Christian-backed initiative aimed at providing an expedited legal pathway for Jewish Canadians seeking refuge in the United States due to rising antisemitism in their home country. The proposal has gained traction as religious leaders and Christian lawmakers urge the Trump administration to take action in light of the growing number of antisemitic incidents in Canada.

On Sunday, Trump took to Truth Social to share details of the plan, which has been met with enthusiasm from his followers. The initiative, which calls for the creation of "lawful, secure, and appropriately expedited pathways" for Jewish Canadians and their immediate family members, is being spearheaded by the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL).

The NACL's founder and President, Jason Rapert, told Fox News Digital that he wants Trump to directly address the issue with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Rapert expressed concern over the "roadblocks" that have been put in place against the "quick recognition of the plight" of Jewish Canadians who fear for their safety.

"This is a humanitarian crisis, and it needs to be addressed immediately," Rapert said. "Canada should be embarrassed and ashamed of these perceived roadblocks. We're trying to rally leaders to take a stand."

The NACL and its partners have requested that the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security create the proposed pathways for Jewish Canadians facing persecution or who have credible fears for their safety due to their Jewish identity. The group argues that America has historically served as a refuge for those fleeing religious persecution and should continue to be a safe haven for Jewish Canadians in need.

Recent data indicate that Jewish Canadians are being targeted at a grossly disproportionate rate, with thousands of antisemitic incidents reported across the country. Canada, with a population of roughly 41 million, has seen nearly 7,000 antisemitic incidents, a number that is alarming when compared to the United States, which has a population of over 342 million and has reported fewer than 6,300 incidents.

Rapert highlighted the severity of the situation during a visit to the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum in northern Israel, where he met with a delegation of U.S. lawmakers and a 91-year-old Holocaust survivor. "It's definitely a problem by greater proportions in Canada, and it's eerie to hear," Rapert said.

The initiative has received backing from a range of civic figures, including former U.S. ambassador-at-large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback and more than 50 state legislators and religious leaders. In a letter to Trump, the group wrote, "America has served as a refuge for people fleeing religious persecution for generations. We urge you to ensure that the door remains open to our Jewish brothers and sisters in Canada who need it today."

Jewish Canadians have expressed interest in relocating to the United States, and the proposed expedited legal pathway could provide a much-needed lifeline for those seeking safety and security. As the issue gains momentum, the Trump administration will face increased pressure to take concrete steps to address the growing crisis of antisemitism in Canada.
